Amber Pasztor due in court, writes letter to judge

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – A Fort Wayne mother accused of killing her two children is expected in court Thursday for a hearing.

Amber Pasztor faces murder charges after admitting to Elkhart police she killed her kids six-year-old Rene Pasztor and 7-year-old Liliana Hernandez.

She recently underwent a psychiatric evaluation at Oaklawn Hospital but a judge ordered it sealed.

She’s due for another evaluation on January 16 at the Indiana University Neuroscience Center in Indianapolis.

According to our reporting partners at Goshen News, Pasztor sent a handwritten letter admitting to the killings to Elkhart Circuit Court Judge Terry Shewmaker dated December 14.

In it she wrote “I want to plead guilty to the two counts of murder. I am competent and I refuse to see another psych doctor. I accept life with no parole. Ready to get this over with…. I made a lot of bad decisions in my life but this one really did it. I am guilty and I accept my consequences.”

Her jury trial is currently scheduled to begin January 23.
