Butler championship ring among items found during IMPD drug bust

Metro Police arrested a man on the east side Sunday and recovered drugs and a Butler football championship ring in the process.

Police say 54-year-old Scott Cook of Indianapolis ran from them when they were called for a disturbance at 13th Street and North Shannon Avenue.

Police soon found Cook standing in the living room of a vacant house in the 1300 block of Shannon Ave. and he surrendered.

But one of the officers saw Cook throw a large clear bag as far as he could. When officers retrieved the bag, they found a substance suspected to be black tar heroin, along with the 1983 Heartland Conference Championship ring.

Cook was arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Trespassing.
