Church parades for food donations Church parades for donations

NEW CARLISLE, IN. (WNDU)- Many people gathered to watch the annual parade that’s part of its Christmas in New Carlisle celebration, but it wasn’t your ordinary parade.

Members of the New Carlisle United Methodist Church teamed up to collect non-perishable food items to donate to the local food pantry. Joe’s Grocery let them borrow six shopping carts for them to gather the donations.

Pastor Kal Morrison said the town has a big heart for its people.

“Our church has a vision as a congregation that is community, compassion and Christ,” Morrison said. “This is a great way for us to show that we are a part of the community and helping the community as well.”

Naomi Thompson was one of the volunteers and she said it’s an easy way to give back to the community.

“Generosity doesn’t involve crazy amounts of money or crazy amounts of time,” Thompson said. “Being generous just for 30 minutes can have tremendous results.”

The church completely filled all six shopping carts.
