GLADYS WARNER STUART YOUR LABOR WAS NOT IN VAIN

Gladys Warner Stuart, whom some called the Queen of the Funeral Home and Mortuary Industry in Indianapolis, worked at and presided over the historic Stuart Mortuary, Inc. for over 50 years. Mrs. Gladys, (as she was affectionately called) worked alongside her husband Charles E.Q, Stuart who served as President and CEO of all matters “Team STUART”, and his Brother Joseph who was the founder of Stuart Mortuary, Inc.

Stuart Mortuary Inc., is still the largest family owned and locally operated African American Mortuary in Indianapolis and even perhaps the State of Indiana. The trend in the mortuary industry, is that larger firms are purchasing independent firms, however, Stuart’s has withstood the test of time to remain independent. Stuart’s seems to be in good hands under the leadership of Mara Stuart, daughter of Charles and Queen Gladys, who serves as President and CEO, and Kevin McMichel, who serves as Operations Director.

She leaves a daughter, Mara; grandchildren, Maradythe, Devon-Charles and Andrew; brother, Thomas A. “Mack” Warner; sister-in-law, Deloris James Bebley, her beloved Stuart Mortuary Family, which includes those who were employed by the mortuary and their families and four generations of Warner, Bebley and Stuart nieces and nephews, one of whom, Deanna, is especially noted.

Queen Gladys please know that community of Indianapolis, thanks you Charlie and Joe for your service and “A Legacy of CARE, trusted since 1948”.

Your labor was not in vain! Rest Our Queen!
