Goshen man acquitted of double murder back in court on new charges

Diego Ramos, the 23-year-old Goshen man who was on trial for a double murder last year, will appear back in court next month for a jury trial for charges of synthetic identity deception and counterfeiting, according to the Goshen News.

During a trial status conference Thursday, a deputy prosecuting attorney said he’s requesting Ramos be transported back to Elkhart County from Brazil, Indiana, where he has been awaiting deportation proceedings.

Ramos was released from county jail last month and then booked at Clay County Jail following his acquittal on two charges of murder.

Marco Carmona-Gonzalez and Jose Nava-Orozco were found shot to death inside their Brookside Manor home in Goshen last March.

Murder charges against Luis Rivas were dropped last August after he agreed to plead guilty to assisting a criminal.
