*Gospel singer Mali Music sparked controversy recently when he implied that the Orlando mass shooting victims didn’t make it into Heaven. During a concert at Howard Theater in Washington DC on Tuesday, 28-year-old Mali asked the crowd, “Anybody want to make it into Heaven?”

As the audience applauded, he continued, “There was about, um, thirty couple of people who went to a place a couple of nights ago, and they wasn’t expecting to be thinking about Heaven too soon. So it’s important that you really do be trying to go.”

Many interpreted his comments to mean that the victims didn’t make it into Heaven because they were at a gay bar, reports SandraRose.com. He was also blasted for the dismissive way in which he described the victims, as “thirty couple.”

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are now in Orlando meeting with survivors and the families of victims, after a gunman killed 49 people early Sunday at the Pulse gay nightclub in the city. It’s his 10th visit to a community affected by a mass shooting during his presidency, per ABCNews.com.

The site also reports that during Wednesday’s White House briefing, Press Secretary Josh Earnest said that “the profound sense of survivor’s guilt that some people are expressing is painful just to read, and I think it is important for the president of the United States, on behalf of the country, to show his support for these families and for these individuals.”

He also spoke about the emotional toll that these tragic events have had on Obama, “It would be impossible for him to not be personally affected by these kinds of conversations and these kinds of interactions,” he said. “I think the president in the past has indicated that he draws on his faith as he considers fulfilling these kinds of responsibilities.”
