Lutheran Foundation donates $1.5M to Rescue Mission

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Rescue Mission, set to build a new facility in downtown Fort Wayne, received a major boost in its capital campaign on Monday.

The Lutheran Foundation donated $1.5 million to The Rescue Mission. The donation was made during a press conference at The Rescue Mission’s Superior Street facility.

The Rescue Mission is working on a $23.1 million capital campaign to erect a new facility at the southeast corner of Lafayette Street and Washington Boulevard, where a former warehouse and 412 Sports Bar and Grille once stood. The planned 85,000 square foot facility will rise four stories and feature a second-floor terrace, a parking lot, gathering and meeting rooms and a media center.

The building will allow the shelter to serve three times as many people as it does at its Superior Street facility, officials have said.
