Muncie man regrets turning son in for buying gun, says it put family in danger

MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie man says he wanted to teach his 15-year-old son a lesson when he turned his son in for illegally purchasing a gun – but now he regrets that decision.

Michael Haupt says his teenage son was shopping for a gun and got pictures via text message of guns from three different teenage dealers who had guns for sale. Haupt’s son eventually bought a .25-caliber weapon. Haupt found the gun in his son’s jacket pocket and turned him in to police.
