New Monmouth poll shows race for Indiana’s U.S. Senate seat tightening

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The race for control of the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Dan Coats is tightening up and Donald Trump’s lead over Hillary Clinton in Indiana is widening, according to a new poll of 402 Indiana residents that are likely to vote in the November election.

The Monmouth University Poll conducted from Thursday to Sunday shows former senator Evan Bayh and Congressman Todd Young in a virtual tie. Both candidates polled at 45% and their Libertarian opponent, Lucy Brenton, came in at 4%. These numbers are quite different than the results of a Monmouth poll conducted in October, where Bayh lead over Young in, 48% to 42%.
