Notre Dame President says it’s not right time to be sanctuary campus

SOUTH BEND, Ind. Notre Dame President Father Jenkins announced on Wednesday night that he does not think it’s the best time to make Notre Dame a sanctuary campus.

According to The Observer, Father Jenkins made the declaration in a letter earlier this month in response to a resolution passed by the faculty senate calling for Jenkins to declare campus a safe space for undocumented students. (Click here to read the faculty senate’s resolution.)

According to The Observer’s Twitter, @NDSMCObserver, Jenkins said, “I do not believe … it is best to declare ND a Sanctuary Campus at this time.”
