4:45 p.m.

Authorities say the suspect in the fatal shooting of a central Indiana sheriff’s deputy apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Indiana State Police say a preliminary autopsy report shows 25-year-old Evan T. Dorsey died of the self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

They say a preliminary autopsy report on Howard County Deputy Carl Koontz shows he died of a single gunshot wound to the pelvis. Marion County coroners have ruled Koontz’s death a homicide.

Police say final autopsy reports typically take several weeks to complete.

Both men died following a gunfight early Sunday inside a mobile home in Russiaville (ROO’-shuh-vil). A second deputy who was injured has been released from a hospital.
