Postal service employees rally in opposition to privatization proposal

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – There was no mail delivery Monday in observance of Columbus Day, but that doesn’t mean postal workers were idle.

They gathered across the country, including outside Congresswoman Susan Brooks office in Carmel.

That’s because Congress is considering a plan to privatize the postal service.

In response, postal employees and their families organized rallies at 140 sites.

The postal service, which is based in the Constitution, delivers 40 percent of the country’s mail without receiving any taxpayer money.
