BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WTHR) – Safety apps are in the local spotlight after two attempted abductions at Indiana University.

IU Police are investigating after female students say they were nearly forced into vehicles by strangers. They happened around the same time in a similar area, but police say the suspects are different.

Around 12:10 a.m. Sunday, a female student says a man tried to force her into his vehicle while she was walking along a path near the State Road 45/46 Bypass by Kaufman field sometime after midnight. Police described the suspect as a black male, approximately 6′ with an average build, in his late 20’s, wearing a dark gray t-shirt and dark pants and driving a newer model black Toyota sedan.
