Saying Goodbye To The King

Union Baptist Church was over crowded on Monday Oct. 30, 2017 with approx. 800-1000 mourners saying goodbye to Mark “King T” Grimes.

Mark lost his battle with T-Cell Lymphoma a rare cancer type that researchers do not know a lot about yet. Mark battled cancer with dignity and grace.  He was quoted as saying that “he was glad it was happening to him, instead of his brother’s and sister’s, because they would not be able to handle this.”  Through all of this one year and 4 month battle, he never complained.

Mark and his loving and devoted mother Ebby

Mark was an extraordinary young man, who put a value on education.  Therefore Chris Walker, Kenna Jones and Rhonda Ward made his dream of being a graduate come true, by awarding Mark with a diploma that officially makes Mark a graduate of Muncie Central High School.  Mark also had dreams of going to the military, then becoming a deputy sheriff.  Delaware County Deputy Sheriff Ray Dudley is to be commended for giving Mark his sheriff badge.

Mark was a great young man who touched the lives of people from all walks of life.  From GRAMMY Award winning Gospel Singer Karen Clark-Sheard (Of whom sent a video tribute), and Jeremy Hill a member of the Cincinnati Bengals Football team, (who sent a condolence) to the Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. (who sent a condolence).

The only thing left to say to Mark is thanks for crossing our path’s. Thanks for making some of our dreams come true, but most of all thanks for making us, or at least me a better person. Take your rest King T, we will see you again.  We love and will forever miss you.
