Sentencing in case of South Bend crash that injured twins

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – A man will be sentenced Wednesday for causing a crash that injured two young kids in South Bend.

In March, Irwin Scott pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident and one count of resisting law enforcement.

Scott was arrested following the incident last October.

Police say he was riding in a car that was pulled over because the headlights weren’t on.

When the driver stepped out to speak to the officer, Scott took over the wheel.

A chase ended shortly after when the car flipped near Bulla and Wilbur streets.

Twin 8-year-olds were in the car at the time and had to be taken to a local hospital.
