South Bend attorney disbarred for misconduct

SOUTH BEND – A South Bend attorney has been disbarred for misconduct by the Indiana Supreme Court.

Elton Johnson’s law license had been suspended since March of 2014 while his actions were being reviewed.

According to the decision, Johnson made at least nine client trust account checks payable to cash and transferred the funds to his business account to cover business and personal expenses.

The high court also concluded that Johnson fired a paralegal because of her refusal to deposit client money into his business account.
