Starbucks holiday drinks, cups return with new twist

Now that we’re past Halloween, it’s all about the holidays.

Beginning Friday, Nov. 2, coffee lovers will be able to get their favorite Starbucks holiday drinks. And this year, there are not only various cups with holiday designs, but there’s also a limited-edition reusable cup if you hop on the train quick.

Customers can stop by Starbucks Friday to get their reusable red cup for free when ordering a holiday drink. Then, beginning Nov. 3, they’ll get 50 cents off a grande holiday drink order with the cup after 2 p.m. The offer lasts all season, ending Jan. 7, 2019.

Holiday drinks include the Peppermint Mocha, Toasted White Chocolate Mocha, Caramel Brulée Latte, Chestnut Praline latte, Gingerbread Latte and Eggnog Latte. All the flavors are available as hot, iced and Frappuccino blended beverages.

As usual, Starbucks revealed the other holiday cup designs.

The cups have been a frequent topic of conversations when it comes to freedom of religion and expression and the theorized “war on Christmas” in American society.

This year’s designs feature a green cup with stars, a red-striped cup, white with holly and a festive red houndstooth pattern.

The theme for this year’s design was “the spirit of yesteryear with a modern twist.”

“We started (this season) by looking to the past,” a spokesperson with Starbucks Creative Studio said.

Starbucks is also offering four themed blends for the season: Christmas Blend, Christmas Blend Espresso Roast, Holiday Blend and Reserve Christmas 2018.

If you’re more about the sweets and pastries, the coffee shop will have the new Chocolate Swirl Brioche, Pistachio Honey Croissant and the Sugarplum Cheese Danish on hand for the holidays.

These treats join the Gingerbread Loaf, Penguin Cake Pop, Peppermint Brownie Cake Pop, Snowman Cookie, Cranberry Bliss Bar, Carved ham & Swiss Breakfast Sandwich and Holiday Turkey Panini as limited-time holiday items.
