UPDATE: Person of interest named in South Bend shooting


Metro Homicide says 25-year-old Terrance Harris was shot multiple times this morning at a South Bend apartment complex.

Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Patty Lane at around 4:00 a.m., within the Corby Lane Apartments.

Harris was taken to the hospital via ambulance after being shot multiple times.

“Obviously with gunshot wounds, they’re always serious until you make a full recovery,” Sergeant Alex Arendt said. “But at this point the victim is at least stable.”

Police name 23-year-old Marshaum Givens (pictured above) as a person of interest in the case. So far, he hasn’t been located.

Investigators two expanded the crime scene at the complex when the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit arrived to photograph the scene and document the evidence.

Evidence markers could be seen in the parking lot in front of two buildings, as well as in the entryway to one of the buildings in the 900 block of Penny Lane.

Neighbors tell NewsCenter 16 they heard multiple gunshots at around 4:00 a.m. but did not hear any commotion. They say Harris was shot when he came out of an apartment to get his phone charger from his car.

One man said “this shouldn’t happen” referring to the violence in a complex with lots of families.
