Wisconsin Gov. Walker to announce presidential endorsement

MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he will announce his endorsement in the Republican presidential race on Tuesday.

Walker said Monday he will make public who he’s backing on WTMJ radio. He had previously said he would back the GOP nominee, but as Wisconsin’s April 5 primary nears, he’s signaled that he would back Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

Walker said last week that Cruz was the only candidate who had a chance at beating front-runner Donald Trump. When Walker ended his own short-lived presidential bid in September, he called on others to join him so it would be easier to take on Trump.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich also remains in the race and is actively campaigning in Wisconsin.
