Zika Funding Fails Again in Congress

WASHINGTON (AP) – A bill aimed at combating the zika virus failed to get past the senate Tuesday.

The $1.1 billion funding bill didn’t get the 60 votes needed to end debate on the issue.

Senate democrats unanimously voted against ending the debate, cementing the bill’s fate.

The Zika Bill is attached to next year’s Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Spending Plan.

But Democrats allege Republicans doomed the bill by adding such provision as blocking funding for Planned Parenthood and allowing the confederate battle flag to fly at veteran’ cemeteries.

This is the third time the zika funding bill has failed in the senate.

Lawmakers are now considering adding zika funding into a short-term general spending bill.
